What do you do with a tortoise on Easter? You paint him like an Easter egg of course.. A new yearly tradition I think. We used face paint which can be washed off with soap and water according to the package. Happy Easter from Thor.
This is Thor in the backyard with his dog siblings, Ashley and Lily. They all get along pretty well together. Although Ashley, a black lab mix, gets a little excited at times and has to be watched closely when around Thor. I don’t think she’s always in control of herself and you never know when she might have a “crazy” moment.
Thor loves to walk around the backyard and sample all of the grass, flowers, dog poo and pine cones. I’m not letting him eat the poo and pine cones. I don’t think they are good for tortoises.
Thor is an African Sulcata Tortoise that we purchased in Fort Lauderdale, FL from Florida Iguana & Tortoise on January 30th, 2016. He is 3 years old and weighs about 20 lbs. We were told he can live to 100 years old and weigh over 100 lbs!! So keep this in mind if you want to get your own.
Anyway, this photo is Thor’s new best sleeping spot in the kitchen pantry. He actually pushed the boxes of canning jars out of the way so he could get back into the corner, which is where he prefers to sleep…with his face in a corner.
